SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) provides free business consultations for small business owners who want to start or grow their companies.

The Topeka SCORE chapter has a network of 24 retired and working business professionals. They have expertise in a number of areas including marketing, business plans, advertising, budgeting, engineering, plant management, financial analysis, web development, management, research and development, purchasing, human resources, venture capital, franchising, organizational development and training, inventory control, and public administration.

SCORE volunteers generally travel to your place of business for on-site evaluations. Business counseling relationships with SCORE can last just a few sessions, or a number of years based on the client business' needs. The business owner determines the level of help needed. Chiropractic school does not teach you how to market yourself. The SCORE volunteers gave me ideas for marketing my business, names of people to contact, ways to get publicity. It's a blessing that the Chamber has this resource.
